I cant able to export the prototype link for the developer.
# I tried to make all the assets linked with other files are making it as local assert.
# I tried to delete my old link and create a new link. Still, I can't able to make it a success.
Can you help me to resolve this error.
this remains a problem as of 10/30.
its not a size issue, i previously shared this exact file with the exact same amount of artboards and assets previously.
as previously stated, a primary reason to "share with developers" is to be able to include assets, so sharing with that unchecked is not desirable.
none of the workarounds previously reported seem to work for me to be able to share with assets.
what is the fix for this, not a hack but a FIX?

Still not working since the october update. I don't care about the new features, just first fix the ones core to the application!! I've started to use zeplin now as an alternative, but man this needs to be fixed soon or I will quit XD altogether.
Updated to early oct version, this bug still happening. Unable to create or update spec link with assets included.
total messed up in the hand-off work flow, back to the pre-XD era, lol
The work-around hack I had given previously has stopped working since Sep 2019. :-(
Guess someone in the XD team tried to fix the issue and ended up overriding the hack. So they need to come up with a legit solution for this issue. Hopefully soon. I have mobile projects so large that the project canvas does not accommodate all the artboards - and the asset count is well over 2000. Right now have no option but to give developers all the assets separately in a ZIP. But if Adobe doesn't solve this quick, they are simply telling us to switch to Zeplin/Sympli/Avocode etc.
Also, why has Adobe team archived the bugs section of uservoice? I know uservoice is way overpriced -but it should still fit in Adobe's budget. And the program is still nowhere near stable and bug-free. They should be want as many crowd-sourced bugs as possible.

This is huge deal breaker for me. I've had this problem for 4 months now with no resolution. I've had Adobe look at my files and tell me everything is fine. I've got teams across the country waiting for my developer handoff to finally work. I've tried so many different suggestions and nothing works. I always get this 44:XX error. I've broken down my files into smaller files and published 10 artboards at a time, and while that seems to help, I've got 80 artboards, so maintenance is a pain. Basically I've traded one nightmare for another. Plus, the discontinuous prototypes leaves everyone scratching their heads as one prototype link ends and another link begins somewhere else.
Honestly, I'm just going to have to rebuild my whole project in another tool. It's sad because I've been loyal to Adobe for decades. I won a regional Creative Jam last year in both Judges and People's Choice categories using only XD. I really want to see XD succeed. But Figma is looking mighty fine right now.

Still having the same issue after the latest update (today). I have over 250 artboards and 800+ assets. It is painfully slow (like more than 25 minutes) to publish, then it fails repeatedly (44:23 error). Then I get empty artboards in the developer view, so they can't even see all the screens. This is literally stopping us working and causing delays on our project. I've tried publishing a new file, moving from Local to Cloud, publishing without assets (kind of defeats the purpose!). I'm stuck and people are getting pissed off with me always saying 'there's something wrong with my software.'! Ugh...
Uncheck or checkbox (include Download Assets).

Hi. I'm getting this error message as well. I'm able to share withOUT the assets, but not WITH the assets. Is the bug under review? Thanks!

I'm getting this issue on multiple files now. Without assets checked, the developer link is created just fine. With assets checked, I get error 44:XX (23, 74, etc). Definitely tried @dashanan's workaround without success. Only thing that seems to work is to break my files apart into smaller files with much fewer artboard, but then I loose all the connections between them in the prototype, plus it's a pain.
I have the same issue here. My artboards aren't large, however I do have a lot of assets to export (about 300 for the whole prototype). @Dashanan, I tried your trick, and I'm afraid it doesn't work for me.
It seems that the file can be shared for development without the assets. I have tried to delete images, etc. that may be large for it, however this issue never happened to me before - even with a more extensive asset library.
@Adobe, I downloaded your latest release yesterday, and I still happens. Any news on the matter?
Okay, here's a hack to solve this problem:
1) Open the "Share for development" menu.
2) Uncheck the "Include assets for download" option.
3) Tap on "Create link".
4) The link will be created smoothly.
5) Now open the "Share for development" menu again.
6) Check the "Include assets for download" option.
7) Tap on "Update" and republish the link.
8) The link will get publish successfully - No 44:23 error! :-D
9) Open the design specs link. All assets will be available.
Let me know if this works for you.

Can't upload the specification by creating a new link.
I have also upgrade the XD software as a single user(Unlimited Prototype and Unlimited Specification).
Please fix the bug by today for my account. I want to share my development link by today night.
SOLVED USING WORKAROUND
It seems that for me the problem was that my file had too many artboards to create a new link. However, I didn't find a problem to update an existing link. So the workaround equivalent to creating a new link is:
1. Create a backup of your file.
2. In the file, delete most of your artboards.
3. Create a new link (it must proceed without issues).
4. Once the new link is created, right click "Undo".
5. Now that you got all your artboards back, update the link that you created in step 3.
This issue seems to be caused by the overall size of the assets being exported. If the file has 1000+ assets but totalling to under 25-50 MB, then you will face no problem. However if the assets are heavy (E.g. lots of PNG files) then this issue arises. Adobe team must have set a limit to the maximum size for all assets being exported in a link. When the limit is crossed, this error occurs. I have to split my files into small chunks and then export for the design specs to work. Hope this issue will get resolved soon.
I'm having exacly the same problem. It reaches 100% and gives an error of 44:23. All the artboards are linked. I tried to delete my old link and create a new link too, I had no success. This has been a big issue for my work.
Cannot create a public link in Adobe XD. The file contains 26 linked (prototyped) artboards and 409 assets. When creating a public link, it reaches 100% and gives an error of 44:23.
This is not the first time I've encountered this problem, that when the file has a lot of linked artboards, it is difficult to create a public link.
This is a big obstacle to work because I need to give the XD specifications to developers.
Please solve this problem!

When I start creating a link for development, it goes till 100%, then it shows error 44:23
Honestly, this is becoming ridiculous, the whole idea about sharing with development is that they can download assets etc. everytime I try to share I get the 44:23 error, I am writing a motivation for Sanlam to cancel Adobe Creative cloud license as it is truly useless to pay so much for something that makes my life a lot harder than it should be

Thanks for reporting the issue . We have an internal bug logged for this and XD team is investigating on the same . Soon we are going to ship this fix in upcoming releases .

@asha b c, if the file size was the issue, then how come i share the same exact file 2 weeks before ?
i only changed some texts. i deleted that entire artboard after this error. still there is error. so please don't consider this as a size issue !
