XD pans while moving items on Magic Mouse
I'm reopening this issue because in the last one, I wrote two issues, not just one, and it was removed because "What you’re describing is a workflow that is the case when using magic mouse. The workaround is unfortunately, not to use the mouse". I think that answer was for the second issue, not the first.
To rephrase the issue: When I drag an item around the canvas (not necessarily to the edges of the window), I keep the LMB of my Magic Mouse down. But while moving the mouse, keeping the LMB pressed down, I probably rotate the tip of my finger a bit on the sensitive area of the mouse, which results in panning of the canvas. Please disable panning while dragging items.
I don't think it is a 'workflow' issue. It is an issue where two functions (panning and dragging) are allowed to execute at the same time. I can think of no situation where this is wanted behaviour. It also happens in other Adobe apps, but also in Sketch and Apple apps. However, in XD the bug is the most obvious, because the scrolling/panning is totally different from other apps. Much more (or even too) sensitive.
I think Adobe has the power to fix this issue with a software update. "Not using the Magic Mouse, cheers" is not really an answer. Everyone gets one if they buy an iMac. Forcing every iMac && XD user to switch to another mouse might be fine with Logitech but I don't like it.
If this is about votes, maybe other MM users can check out, and vote for, this bug.
Thanks for reporting.
You can request this in feature request: https://adobexd.uservoice.com/forums/353007-adobe-xd-feature-requests.
I'd like to add a suggestion how Adobe could fix this: When dragging an object lock panning. If you need to pan while moving an object (f.e. dragging a button from header to footer) hold Space. Or add a function so users can decide if they want free-panning or hold-space to pan.
this is really annoying and as it only happens in XD, no other CC program behaves that way. The answer "just do not use magic mouse" is probably the worst suggestion ever from a support-team. Why stop there? 50% of bugs are Windows related...well stop using windows. Oh, you've got a problem with Retina displays? Stop using those - just throw your 3000 Dollar Macbook Pro in the trash - problem solved. I've got a better solution: Use Sketch. Seriously, instead of fixing basic stuff like this, or adding some text-tools everyone is requesting for months to XD, they keep adding some weird function no one has ever asked for.
