Long prototype names in dropdown menu have no hover/pop-up (with full name)
(Hoping this is a bug and not 'by-design')
When 'Choosing a Destination' from the Prototyping menu, the layer names are truncated to fit the (very narrow!) dropdown box. As a result, I can rarely see the full name of the layer, making it difficult to know which layer to link to. If I hover on a layer name in the dropdown menu, it should either provide a hint-bubble with the full layer name or start auto-scrolling in the field to allow me to read the full name. This is a major usability issue - especially for prototypes with a large number of artboards.
I’m sad to say what you’re describing is essentially working as expected on Win10. The truncated name will show a check-mark on the right end of the name to indicate artboard name is longer than field can accommodate.
Sincere apologies for the inconvenience.
Thank you for responding - I'm not sure how I missed your response to this, but as the bug still exists, I'll provide more information.
To repro this issue:
1. Create 2 or more artboards with long names (24+ characters should do it)
2. Add an object to artboard 1
3. Switch to prototype mode and select your object on artboard 1
4. Drag the arrow from the object on artboard 1 to artboard 2
5. In the 'Destination' dropdown for the interaction, you will note that the destination artboard name is truncated with ellipses.
-> There is no way to view the truncated/hidden content. You will notice in the image attached that this is problematic when you have a large document with multiple long names in your artboards (especially when they are spread far apart and can only be connected using the dropdown menu because the zoom is too far out to be usable with the prototype 'drag' functionality).
Ellipses are used in design to indicate that there is hidden content WHICH CAN BE VIEWED. Yet there is no way to view the hidden content in this case. I would expect that, at very least, there would be a pop-up 'hint' bubble triggered by hovering over the specific artboard name. At best, I would expect the entire dropdown drawer to expand horizontally to accommodate even my longest artboard name so that I can see them in their entirety.
