Preview window resizing should be locked to artboard aspect ratio
1. 0.4.0.3 Beta
2. Create a custom-sized project and preview in prototype mode.
3. Expected to see the preview window bounds flush with the preview content.
4. Black bars left/right of preview content. Also rescaling this window should be constrained to the aspect ratio of the project preview. No reason why you should be able to scale without constraints and reveal more black backing.

Its definitely a bug that sometimes the window opens with black bars, and we'll resolve that part.
Regarding the resize behavior, we allow different sized artboards to be sized in a window, as well as the window to go fullscreen. Hopefully this makes more sense as to why we have that behavior. If not, please follow up - maybe we're missing a good idea.
Hi Steve - I was able to reproduce this issue and have filed it in our bug base. We will update this issue when the bug has been resolved. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

is it possible that you had several documents open and viewed the prototype of both documents without closing the preview window in between? If so, this issue is known.
If not could you give more details on how you got into that state? In that case it would def. be a bug and we would want to fix it. A very effective way to demonstrate a bug is creating a video, licecap works great for example and is easy to use.
Hi Steve - can you share was size you were using for the custom-sized artboard? I tried to reproduce this issue with various sized artboards and was unable to. Thanks!
