Saving color palettes - shared across documents or users
I want to have a consistent set of swatches, with the ability to import saved palettes or to share/export a palettes. It would be nice to have access to multiple palettes as well
Hi Everyone!
We’re excited to announce that with XD May release, you could now create a single source of truth for all your colors, character styles, and components in an XD cloud document and reuse all your assets in your XD documents.
With the linked assets feature, you can easily share and consume not only components — or what was formerly known as symbols — but colors and character styles as well. This is incredibly handy if you are sharing sticker sheet with your team or reuse design elements across projects.
Linked Assets complement the workflow of linked components. When you modify a linked asset in the source document, all the consuming documents with those linked assets receive update notifications. From there, you can choose preview and accept the updates.
To learn more about this feature check out:

Please give it a try and let us know what you think.
Thank You!

I would just like to be able to export swatches as a simple text file containing hex values.
Even for gradient values it would be great if they exported the same way that they do in InDesign. -

Not having this is extremely frustrating. I have to save all my swatches as tiles on an artboard, then copy paste that into my new document and then save out my swatches. Simply being able to import a saved swatch file would speed up my workflow.
Would also be nice to save gradients as swatches.

The ability to export both colour swatches and the Colors palette itself as a file with the ability to import and overwrite them in a different XD file, this would be great for branding and taking a vanilla brand say and then overwriting with a set of swatches to just change the brand on the fly.
Also the option to export the colors themselves to a txt file for automaiton purposes, such as :
<colour name>
<Hex Value>Eg.
Background

Yeah, this is pretty much a required feature. Won't be using XD for real work until this feature is implemented.

Designing without a built in colour palette? I get it.. we can make a colour palette as an image, import it then use the colour picker to grab our colours. What we really need is colour palette plus GLOBAL STYLES where we can set the border of X to colour Y and the font of A to colour B etc etc. Much in the same way CSS works. In CSS you can set your primary colour, secondary colour, tertiary colour, colour for fields, colour for background, colour for header etc and then change them and the change applies across the entire website. This is what we need. Swatch and colours we can apply to our entire design and change easily across our entire design.

How about a colour pallete that get saved in the .xd file itself, like how Illustrator handles them? That way someone who opens your file on a different computer will be able to access the swatches.

Note: this request is about _sharing_ color palettes / color favorites, between multiple files or multiple people.
If you're interested in editing a color palette in order to update _all objects using that color_ in the document (like a global search & replace or color swap), please upvote https://adobexd.uservoice.com/forums/353007/suggestions/12869085-global-style-color-edits

Using a defined color palette is very important for the design consistency, also when working on a defined guidlined design such as Google Material, which they provide thier palette, I really wanna see a plus button that will allow me to import a color palette such as .ase files on those on my Kuler for instance.

It would also be extremely useful to be able to edit a swatch and globally update all elements using the swatch much like InDesign does it. Imagine a header and a square both use the same red in 10 different art boards and that red needs to be adjusted. Instead of changing every single element, a task that can take up to 10 mins, just updating the swatch to the new red globally updates all elements using that color.

Can we have CC libraries integrated please? This makes so much sense to preserve the purpose of CC Libraries and the more integrated this is, the more people will adapt to XD.

Using a palette from your CC library would be very handy.

There should be built in colour palettes also. For example, you shouldn't need to create grayscale swatches every time you do a wireframe. Grayscale swatches should be available by default. The next most important are probably default iOS and Material Design colours.
