Totaly agree with the non-sense of this feature. Creating a feature that exports HTML is a waste of time. The HTML structure of the pages is going to be created in many different ways by the developers, I think the CSS parameters for handoff already available are enough. Please Adobe team concentrate on other prototyping essential features as blend modes, micro animations and maybe also gradient and alpha masking.

Please do not build this feature. XD is a prototyping tool. The code that gets generated is going to go straight into the trash. XD Devs, please do not waste your time.

Bad idea! Computer generated code is never good and the consultants end up having to redo it anyway.

I thought this would become a web design tool. Xd appears to only be for "experience" mockups. I miss Reflow, which showed some real promise. It exported fairly CLEAN (unlike Muse) HTML and CSS. It should work like an IDE interface designer. Dreamweaver (Dw) is not it either. It's good for raw coding, but not for visual web design.

Hi! I work as a consultant for various confidential clients, and I'm not able to publish prototypes for them online. I need a way to export XD prototypes as HTML so their developers can test sites. I have to be careful about which plugins I use because of security concerns. Projects should be exportable as HTML.

A few commenters are mentioning web tools can't produce production ready code. I'd like to comment on that.

As many of you already know web design and web development is a process that starts from a sketch or idea to a production ready site or application.

More than a few people on this feature request have mentioned that they don't think it's possible for an application to export to a production ready site. In my opinion it depends what your end goal is. In the past authoring tools did not have the feedback and integration that we have today.

When you take a design and put it online you usually go through the designer developer workflow. That includes discovery, prototyping, reviews, wiring it up, more reviews, staging, more reviews, and then production.

Some authoring tools will help you through a part of that workflow, some help you through a many steps of that workflow. So it really depends on the project requirements if an authoring tool can accomplish what you need. Do you need a static site, responsive site, desktop, mobile, CMS theme, etc? Do you need to hire a developer?

I've worked on and with graphic design teams that our job was to convert prototypes to a working interactive sites or applications. So the code that I've worked on exporting is based on that experience. That is to make it clean, address the needs of developers who you may need to work with and support existing workflows.

If you need to export to web, check out the web export plugins on the plugin manager and if they don't fulfill your needs email their developers and tell them what you need. They would most likely like to address your needs rather than be dismissed.

It would be nice to export all the artboards to HTML5/CSS3; however, I would be happy to write a plugin to do this if someone can direct me to the XD file format. I'm new to XD so if there is info on this that I missed I apologize in advance.

This is a great idea. The developer can focus on building logic and integration with the backend. Really needs this feature to speed up the front end development process.

Sketch is already integrating with low code platforms like Kony to speed up the app development

It will be great if the prototype can be converted into HTML with the styling in CSS. This will speed up the front end development. A lot of low code platforms likes Outsystems, Kony are already doing this and it will be create Adobe XD is able to provide this feature.

Or just export to DW so we can start to work out the Site.

Pretty much what pklaschka writes here I think. People like me just want to see the prototypes offline. I'm not allowed to load it up to the servers of adobe. I just want to have an offline prototype that I can send to my colleagues and discuss it. I don't care about beautiful and useful code of it, because I dont need it.

I think there's currently some uncertainty about what got requested here. If it goes into the direction of exporting prototypes (as actual prototypes), I entirely concur (there might be scenarios where you can't share an online prototype with a client).

If, however, this is about some "Export for production" functionality, which – as many have put it – should replace "Muse" and spit out some code which can get uploaded to a server to "have a website," I'm absolutely against it.

First of all, Adobe XD is a rapid prototyping/design tool. It is not a WYSIWYG editor. Thankfully, the days when almost every website got created in such an editor are over, and I don't want to return to that stage.

There is a reason web development is a professional market. To design and develop websites, you have to understand the limitations of the web as a platform. Sites aren't just something which you can "export" from a design – they're too complicated for that. There are far too many factors which a design tool can't "know" about a design which are crucial for implementing that website. Also, many designs can't get "translated" to the web.

XD is a professional tool for designing (amongst other things websites). The purpose for XD is to design something with it and hand it off to a developer, who can then implement the design.

If you must have an export to HTML functionality, take a look at the plugin market. There are already some solutions out there, and I'm sure there are more to come (as I've said, though – don't think they'll generate great websites for you).

Taking XD into this direction ("replacing Muse") would mean turning away from the professional market, which is very it currently does a great job of completing with Sketch and Co.

This would be a great feature. Many times i meet with clients and we do storyboarding, mockups, or analytics boards and there is no quick way to export entire canvas with all boards.

Perfect example - We recently did a website presentation to a client and showed them different page mockups. Instead of showing on Microsoft Surface Board (86") we decided to print the entire canvas, which we had to recreate in Adobe Illustrator.

I would like to be able to export the entire canvas as a PDF, in addition to the initial request of HTML format.

This is a great tool and it could be greatly increased by this feature.

Learn HTML instead. This is not a feature XD is for. This feature is for people who rather just convert their designs to webpages. XD = experience design not export design as HTML.
