Without hover states, or overlays on hover it's pretty much a deal breaker.

it's incredible that we still don't have it.
Experience design: hover is basic.

Hover hover hover hover....
...Please add hover
Having used Invision successfully for the last 3 years - but frustrated by the fact I need to export elements out of Adobe and then back into the software I was excited to use XD with the prospect of a fully integrated and optimised workflow. However until Adobe adds hover as an interaction (my work revolves entirely around UI for web) I'll need to revert back to my original processes.

@JeremyRozen. Export kit is not a viable option to replace a hover effect.
1) It takes a lot of effort to learn the naming conventions to properly export the file to code.
Plus, it takes way more time than you think to export and clean up the code. Though we do use Export Kit— it's not until it's ready for production.2), Exporting the file to code defeats the whole propose of having it be a prototype. Client's can't comment on the file, developers can't extract images, ect. It's basically a hard-coded website.
3) They should just have a hover feature already. It's a bit ridiculous not too.

This is a massive gap in this software. Hover effects are ubiquitous, and absolutely essential in UI design. The lack of this feature makes this product nearly unusable for me, (and I was very excited when I began using it.)

I already told Adobe and various engineers that its not possible to implement a :hover state function with the current adobe XD prototype mode interface 2 years ago!!!!
To have a hover function Adobe will need to re-engineer Adobe XD.. and thats not going to happen soon. Adobe XD is an app design tool. nothing more nothing less. Use it for what it is and use other software for web design

You can create the effect using Export Kit and some code.

Looks like Hover has been delayed because of auto-animate?
@Pat links to a video below.
An idea to get around that problem could be to only allow the Hover trigger for Overlays.
This would give us tooltips and overlays on hover. Further, if you wanted to have a button hover state, you could simply overlay the hover button state instead of duplicating artboards and switching between them with auto-animate.

Make it done the "hover state" feature pls! This is very important and needed in many cases every single day! Why ignore still now this feature?

I don't know how Gamepad interactions came before Hover/Mouseover. Don't get me wrong, that's cool, but the VAST majority of users are interacting with a mouse.
Shouldn't be surprised, though. How long has XD been in development and they STILL don't let me change my preferences?

So sad, that there is still no hover-update :(

This was supposed to be so simple...why do you keep ignoring it? I know at least 10 UI Designers who don't use XD just because it can't simulate a hover effect in the prototypes.
