Global reusable text styles & export text style guide

It would be useful to be able to label text styles as paragraph, h1, h2, link etc and then be able to export a text file that would include all of those styles to pass on to the developer

Hi, all! In our August release, we’ve introduced our Assets Panel, which allows you to aggregate specific styles in one place for reuse. You can read more about this new feature here: https://blogs.adobe.com/creativecloud/august-update-of-adobe-xd/

We do have a separate story about handing off to developers here, which you should upvote if you care about the handoff part of things: https://adobexd.uservoice.com/forums/353007-adobe-xd-feature-requests/suggestions/12951915-generate-specs-measurements-style-guide-for-de

Let us know what you think in a new idea here in UserVoice.

-Elaine

    I tried some meta-design: https://xd.adobe.com/view/f25479fa-e907-4437-8b43-1da1d5a6277c/

Setting styles, and having shortcuts to those styles would be endlessly useful.

I can imagine having styles and "Adjacent Styles" that would afford the user the ability to go from say, "standard paragraph text" (cmd + opt + 0), to "disabled paragraph text" and then to "prompter paragraph text" by using some "scroll through adjacent styles" keyboard shortcut.

Nothing more annoying than having to manually change font styles globally on all comps! ugh! XD is fast a sh*t though for layout and basic interaction.

Let me use a Fonts named like "dynamic 1" "dynamic 2" and let me set it once and reuse it in my project. If I want to change the design fast, I can change it only once and all used parts get refreshed. Let the user also change font size in this way.

    Yes, This feature is needed!

Please let us override the color and text alignment though!

Thats the one issue i have with the text-styles in Sketch, in order to use a "H1" text style in reality, you have to make a left, centered, and right aligned duplicates and then have the white version and the black version which just makes it hard to use having so many variations of the save exact font style. it would be nice if you could choose what values you want to have saved as a text style

Yes! style sheets and a global type style for the whole document. This is a huge pain in the butt.

It's really useful select the text field and have the same style (0.5.22.8 Beta version, great Adobe), but I need to save character style for complex text fields.
For example, I have some fields with a text description with a base font style and some words in bold, etc..
Also, this could be useful in export tool (or in Creative cloud library) for use it in next development, like font style in Muse, in Dreamweaver and other. It could magic an export in CSS or SASS of the font style.

In addition to setting up styles for <p>, <h1>, <h2>, <h3> etc... it would be nice to have an ability to scale them relatively to each other like they do it here: http://www.modularscale.com

It would be great if I could specify the H1, H2, H3, Paragraph etc font, size, colour, and use this preset across my project.

If I create 100 artboards, and I decide to change the H1 header size and font style, currently I have to change every single H1 header manually across my boards.

This would be a great feature to allow mass editing of a template across all artboards.

The same would be great to be able to do with core element colours and sizes across dartboards. For a side menu on a web design for example.

If there is Custom popup where we can set default fonts, size and color, it will be greatly helpful.

Like, 'saving the style text' , which can be applied to other similar text, when I create multiple pages.

this would be a great feature, but also would be great to have overiding responsive styles. Trouble with sketches styles is that when you add a desktop artboard next to your mobile one, you cant change the styles for the mobile one without messing up the mobile styles.

...and distances, height and width of boxes. I thing the best way is to show this information direct in the export png/jpgs. The text field is not enough. The developer need a mapping from image to text file. I would like to sketch, but you can also upload anything.

I've tried to use styles in Photoshop, Illustrator etc. and it's just difficult and cumbersome. I work on a rather restricted network so the cloud is not optimal for me. I've come to the conclusion that when delivering websites and apps - it's my job to gather information about the fonts, colours etc. and give to the developer. Therefore I must mention InVisionapp Labs Craft plugin for Sketch has now features that gather automatic (on request) style guide in a new artboard. This artboard is part of the document, and is as good for me reviewing and editing my colors and text styles as for the programmer. - I'm saying in so many words I like your apps a lot - but the approach that InVisionApp Craft Styles is better...

    1. Ability to make type stylesheets as well as object stylesheets for elements like buttons. Basically – making styles like you can in Indesign would be brilliant.

    2. Speed up design process – and keeps elements consistent. Also helps to build style patterns.
