Import Videos & Animated GIFs to show in interactive preview
Support to import a video or animated GIFs to simulate animations or even playable video.
Hello everyone! I’m excited to announce that in XD 45 (released today 10/26), you will be able to import MP4 video into your XD designs.
To ensure platform compatibility and performance across desktop, web and mobile preview, your video must be:
MP4
H.264
AAC audio
under 15 MB
4K or under resolution.
Enjoy and we can’t wait to see what you create!
XD does not support Animated GIF, so if you are still looking for that, please start a separate request and vote on it.

I would like to add that when a gif is imported into the design it would be great if the corresponding window/menu in XD allows you to specify "AUTO-PLAY" or "START ANIMATION ON CLICK/TAP" option. But if this is a wish list, it would be even better to use the TIMELINE window/menu/tab group from PS in XD.

I agree. Right now it's the only thing stopping me from using XD over InVision.

I agree, this feature is a must-have in nowadays (web)design!

I need this feature also... and soon! Without, this software, it is akin to a low-grade Apple iBooks Author program.

The use of video or at least animation to show engaging content ideas is something i really need.
We commonly talk about having video backgrounds or conversational components and simply cannot test our ideas

100% agree - i'm a hardcore motion-graphics animator and would like to create custom transitions and individual object animations that i can import / embed / set to loop etc. even embedding a .mov file onto an artboard to simulate the transition between artboards would be cool.

I have a YouTube channel with many videos that I use in various websites. I would like to use the same within an App created in XD...

If Adobe XD wishes to become as, or more relevant than its screens-and-layers counterparts (e.g. Flinto, Axure, Justinmind, etc.), it would add the support. Eventually, I hope to see XD become as robust as high-fidelity data-driven Prototype Development Environments ("PDE") like Justinmind.
I have become excited at the prospect that an established design-and-development company like Adobe realizes the divide between the developer, and designer is shrinking!
Keep adding relevant features!

Adding animated gif support to adobe XD would be very VERY useful! I am a motion graphics designer so I live and breathe in adobe After Effects! I'd love to include its infinite possibilities into my User prototypes!

The ability to drag and drop .mov video file into the selected art board . Even better would be the support for ALPHA CHANNEL .mov quicktime files in order to support transparency layers so that only certain aspects of the on screen visual could be displayed in motion while the rest is created and designed within XD. Use case would be animated buttons or background videos whereas the whole art board does not need animation.

Incorporation of Animation either through gif or video format would be the feature that brings me and a boat load of other mobile app designers to XD full time.

Could not agree more. Not having this feature is a total non starter for me and my company's needs. We'll be stuck with Flinto until that's added to XD

Yeah. I agree with all these folk. Native support for video, animated GIFs and Edge Animate would be superb. After all this is about experience. No web is static, even the spider's blows in the wind ;)

To give XD prototypes a very realistic dimension, it would be necessary to import GIF animation, video files.

An export to After Effects for animation would be amazing. You could get so creative with animations from there. Then just export as animated gif or mov and import back to XD. You could just trigger the animation on click or by another event like hover. It's be nice to just import any animated gif too so that small elements (like buttons) could be simply added once created. It definitely makes a difference to anyone you're presenting to in terms of a polished looking product / idea.

It would be very useful to include Animations (GIF and VIDEO FORMATS) in the design. Not only to preview content but mainly to simulate mouse-over-interactions etc.
