Import Photoshop / PSD
Import Photoshop file with options to select layers and/or artboards.
This would increase ease of use and workflow, so a user is not always switching between apps. Import options for layers, artboards, or even layer comps, would also cut down a lot of rework.
Hi everyone,
I’m glad to announce that we’ve just released this feature!
You can bring your Photoshop files into XD by simply opening a PSD file with the CMD-O command or by selecting “Open” from the “File” menu. Your file will automatically convert into a new XD file with your artboards, layers, and assets editable and at a high fidelity.
You can find more details about March release here:
https://theblog.adobe.com/march-2018-update-adobe-xd/
Note that we bring in Photoshop elements and effects that can be mapped to XD’s functionality, the rest are either rasterized or not transferred yet to the XD file. Learn more about what is supported here:
https://helpx.adobe.com/xd/kb/open-photoshop-files-in-xd.html
Let us know your feedback.
Thanks,
Dan

Adobe is simply complicating the stuff. Adobe PS has much many features. When compared to XD, the main stuffs that are missed out in PS, are the "Interaction Linking", "Repeat Grid" and the "Play Preview".
Simplicity is bringing these UX/UI new features into PS.
Publicity is creating a new app called XD and make wait your Windows users for nearly a year and lacking all vital features of PS. Headache while importing assets into XD.
Adobe should understand that a "feature is not an "app".

This would be great for designers switching from photoshop to XD, it'd be easy to get projects already done in photoshop into XD, and continue the work there.

This would make life much easier if anyone provides me with psd files but not limiting me in using photoshop at the same time.

This would be HUGE! The "artboard" feature in PS is GREAT! Adding the ability to import those PSD's with artboards directly into XD for prototyping would be a GAME CHANGER!
Looking forward to seeing this soon!

The workflow between Photoshop and XD is very importan issue, please create the bridge between PDS and XD, PSD to XD and XD to PSD, also you think about AI.

FramerJS is able to import photoshop psd files easily. For it anything g you need to interact with needs to be in a folder I could see this being the case for Xd as well.

I think the amount of time you would spend getting PS files to import perfectly in to XD (maintaining layer and folder integrity et al) would be a waste of time in the short term. Just get a smart object to come in. Those who want loads of PS assets can then have them in a smart object despite the fact, performance-wise it will kill XD I'm guessing...?
Using PS for designing apps and web UI surely is either long gone or should be gradually dying for most pros and certainly for new waves of knowledgeable designers out there.

I agree on the importance of PSD import options. I find the whole idea of building up designs from scratch directly in Xd a little out of touch with the complex workflows we as digital designers take on. A lot of features has been introduced to PSD in recent years making it much easier to work with digital design - layer comps, option to place linked content for easy update of changes, artboards, device preview etc. I don't see Xd as an alternative to this so why not allow for import of PSD files with options to select specific layers, layer comps or artboards?

I agree with all the other commenters here.. It would be a fantastic asset to my workflow if I could import a PSD, maintain the folder hierarchy and layers and then use XDs fantastic interface to make a prototype to share with my clients. Fantastic product to date though! Looking forward to its devleopment!

Ability to import already-designed PSDs to create responsive layouts. Necessary bridge for conventional designers.
Conversely, ability to export to PSDs.

to-date we've been using Photoshop art board feature extensively for making website and mobile apps. So we have many apps ready in Photoshop and would be looking ahead for some importing feature of XD to directly fetch data from Photoshop art board to XD layer panel without loosing data and appearance. We want to move all apps to XD from Photoshop as we find it more presentable and fast mode to work. Please help us with this.

Linking PSDs like InDesign would set Xd apart from all other prototyping tools. Allowing to turn layers on and off and being able to use layer comps would be fantastic. I finally get past all that export/import stuff that takes up so much time.

If I create an element for an art board in Photoshop and I have the Adobe Generator feature active, I would have expected Adobe XD to automatically detect any changes made to the element in Photoshop, as the elements in XD are brought in from the Generator Folder.
However when I make a change in Photoshop, the file updates in the folder, but this change is not reflected in the XD wireframe. -

Can you create a way for a project to export into Photoshop? I created a large website redesign project in Adobe XD, and the developer needs it in Photoshop. It took me 2 weeks to build this and I can only export into PNG's. So it's really hard for him to pull the details so he can code it. Thank you!
