Save as older version
an option to save XD files in older version, so people working on updated versions can share documents with people who can't upgrade

As a freelancer, of course I have CC Cloud. I have been using XD, Axure and Sketch for years. Now it's enough for me with XD because it's not backwards compatible. I don't understand why Adobe does it.
It is clear to me. No more projects with XD! -

I work on a enterprise version of xd at work and they never roll out the latest version of XD for "Security reasons". I'm allowed to work from my personal computer at home which saves as a newer version of xd, not yet available at my office or to my team. I can't open the file I created from home once I get to the office. This constantly affects my ability to work remotely and collaborate effectively with my team. This is a feature that I've used regularly in many other design jobs, especially in regards to print work via InDesign.

Andrew Shorten sounds extraordinarily sanctimonious in his dismissive response. Not being able to save between software versions is a very basic feature from the standpoint of daily workflow. While he's busy "moving the industry forward," the rest of us can't even open our XD files, let alone use its splashy new features.
Based on Andrew's brand of customer service, I just downloaded my first trial of Sketch.

UI educator here, been complaining about this for over a year. Here's Adobe XD lead Andrew Shorten's response to me complaining on Twitter and suggesting I might move my class to Sketch, FYI.

I have 30 students who would like to know what the progress is on this request. They love XD, but their patience is going to wear thin before long.

This should be possible. Or something like export as version X ....

I am in class right now as an instructor and my students cannot open their XD files they worked on at home because there was an update this week. The schools cannot update automatically like the students. I'm amazed this still is not a feature.

I'm teaching XD in a lab at a university and the compatibility issues across versions are causing major problems. Students can't update the software on these machines and our administrators aren't able to go to every lab and run updates throughout the term. So, I have students who can create things in the old version in our lab, but as soon as they try to work with it on their personal computers at home (which have a more recent version of XD that they can't roll back), they're stuck and can't use that file in the computer lab any more.

Yeah this is so dumb. I love it when i'm starting a 7am meeting, and get ready to lead my design share to 20 developers but then there was an overnight update and now i have to stall for X amount of time because my Xd decided it needed some "me time".
Another waste of users time. can we please rename this Zero Experience Design? because that would be more accurate for this software. -

Please add this feature.

Why would this not be a feature? And if it is not a feature, why would the program just not play nice with older versions? This is a huge oversight.

+1 I work for an enterprise company and only have access to v.13 on my laptop. Trying to open a file created in v.16 and can't. I need it for a project due tomorrow :(

+1 for older versions compatibility.
I and my students are in the same boat as Newton and Jennifer Young. And as Newton mentioned, we too are considering dumping XD in favor of Sketch. SO FRUSTRATING. With our students, the Adobe brand is becoming synonymous with a large, faceless monopoly that doesn't care about its customers.

+1 for older versions compatibility.
Indesign has this neat feature of exporting to IDML file that can be read by older versions. We desperately need this feature in XD.
