Indication of master component on the layers panel
There's nothing that I have found that indicates that a component is a master component or not, other than the green outline(instead of blue) only when selected, and right-clicking every component and seeing whether "Edit Master Component" exists or not in the context-menu. These two current indicators are not helpful at a high level because you have to select or click on each individual component instead of being able to see this information at a glance in the component/layers list.
The layer/component icon changes when the group is open(revealing the layers inside) or closed. This is not a necessary change because we can clearly see if the group is open by seeing the layers inside listed or not. Why not have the change in icon symbolize something useful like a master component vs. an instance instead?

@PB - NO masters on the stage -> by default <- Yeah, Basic stuff :/

It would be great if selected master component(s) were indicated in the assets panel (not sub-master components). The current option to reveal components from the menu requires two clicks and it shows multiple master components.

I don't think components need any indicator in the layers panel.
Rather, I could suggest to implement the same behavior as Animate, that is, converting objects into symbols automatically makes them instances of the master. So, no masters on the stage, just instances.

I agree that there needs to be better indicators (in more than one location - i.e Layers).
For enterprise level design systems and abstractions there needs to be more efficient ways of knowing which are master and instances. Solely relying on a green diamond in the top-left corner by clicking around / right-clicking is highly time-consuming and frustrating.
PB, yes you have explained how it works currently and the point is that it's not enough and very inefficient.
Adding indicators to the layers is a good start.

Thanks for the reply. I should have specified that the indicator I'm requesting is needed in the layers panel. Is the diamond in the upper left-hand corner of the layer or the component itself? Thanks.

Hi Dave,
master components have a green diamond in the top-left corner (besides the green border), while instances have the border only.
