Paste above selected layer
Currently, if you paste a new object, it is pasted on top of all other layers, even if you have another layer selected.
This differs how it is handled in other programs (such as Sketch or even Adobe's own), where when you have a specific layer selected, all pasted elements will be pasted above the selected layer and not as the top-most layer.
It would be nice if this could be added as it makes pasting layers way more efficient, since you dont have to go to the layers panel afterwards to reorder the pasted contents.
Thanks for your feedback! Duplicate (Cmd+D on Mac, Ctrl+D on Win) will do what you want: https://twitter.com/elainecchao/status/1093951347626524673
Yes, need this feature. Or make it like on Illustrator, like you select the object then press cmd+f to paste in front or cmd+b to paste behind the object

@elaine - this doesn't work for new objects pasted in from elsewhere. Try Sketch's "Paste over Selection" to see the behaviour. It honestly saves me hours a week in Sketch.
I very much want this. Pasting above the currently selected layer is far more useful than pasting at the top of the layer stack.
Ah, no. I was not talking about duplicating a layer, but pasting a different element above another (e.g. coming from another artboard)
