Change Save As behavior to remove Copy of
Remove "Copy of" text from filename when I "Save As" — Change to number increment
Every time I want to save a new iteration of my file, I hit Command+Shift+S to "Save As".
XD automatically adds "copy of" to the beginning of the filename and I have to delete it every. Single. Time.
Does anybody actually names their files this way? You'd end up with "copy of copy of copy of copy of filename" instead of a simple numbered "filename 5".
Would be cool to see XD smartly increase the number by 1 every time like it does with the artboards. Or at the very least make it behave like other apps do, prompting a "filename already exists. Do you want to replace it?" dialogue of i forget to change the filename .
Saving As no longer prepends “Copy of” to the title.

I think the best way is just to keep it consistent in all CC apps.
"filename copy" as Photoshop do in a "save as copy" prompt.XD doens't really look like a CC app on many aspect. I think those little things can be easily done without changing user's habits.
Thank you~

Yes, just add "copy" to the end of the filename. Would save me so much time when saving new versions of my files.

Joining the group. We definitely don't need "copy of", very annoying "feature", please be so kind and remove it, or at least make it optional! Honestly, i don't even understand, what was the person thinking, who thought that this was a great idea... There are so many other more important things to take care of.

Everyone has their own file naming preferences & systems. It seems to me in this case, that instead of trying to 'help' the user by renaming something, that control should be placed back into the user's hands. I would recommend not changing anything in the document name in the save dialog. This way users who want to rename it can, users who are risking overwriting an old file can be prompted and given a choice as to whether they want to or not (as sometimes they do), and users who are backing up a cloud document to their PC can do so without having to rename anything.
This attempt at creating less work for the user actually creates more work for them.

I would also like to agree with the other person who is asking to remove the cloud option altogether. Make this a setting that can be turned on but otherwise leave me out of it. Myself and many many many other designers in Enterprise situations have our own very strict and specific file saving methods. We can't won't and have no interest in the cloud, and it is just getting in our way constantly. Get rid of the junk.

no. Do not add anything to the filename. Just leave it alone. Adding numbers to the end is just as poor of a design practice as adding copy of is to the front. Just leave it alone. if you want to do something more intuitively, how about opening up the folder where the last one was saved, instead of dumping me off on any random spot and making you hunt all my files back down again. You know, like every other savie dialog has done it for the last 20 years? the tedious amount of stupidity involved in saving files on xd now is making me seriously consider switching products. I wanted to stay in the Adobe family, but now it's wasting my time several times a day.

Get rid of "copy of" when "saving as" in the file name. This is really annoying if you do iterative saving which I always do. I have to manually delete that part every time I save a new version.

Agree, I like to version save my files when I make big changes and this is very annoying.

I'd prefer the system not add anything to the filename at all. Since everyone has a different way of versioning their files (i.e. "_v2", "2", "-2", "-v2", etc). I'd rather not have to delete something that is not part of my versioning method.

Please change this.
It's incredibly frustrating, and out of sync with how other Adobe applications behave on Save As.

When performing a "save as", it would be better to add a number at the end instead of "copy of". This is more in line with how the user would rename initially

Creeps me out, every time I save a file I forget about this,
- then I have to close the newly saved file,
- open Finder,
- go to the file,
- rename it,
- reopen it so it doesn't remain like that, messing with my otherwise alphabetically ordered files (I keep version check in the end like File_name-1a.xd)Not sure why this became a recent 'feature' but it makes life a lot harder regarding UX. I don't want to unnecessarily click in front of the file and delete 'Copy of ' every time I save a new version.
Please change this back!

When you save as the word 'copy of' pops in front. If I want to save it as a version at the end of the name I have to delete the Copy Of and revise the name. PS and ID put 'copy' at the end of the file name. Why change the process with this app? they should all be the same. Highlighting 'Copy' at the end of the file name and replacing it with a version is easier to do than removing copy at the head of the file name.

Totally agree here with Marco.
The "save as" flow become very annoying when most of the time I'm trying to save a new version (just adding +1 to the version number) to my local computer. -

Please make the expanded search features an option. I do not want to save to cloud. I have my own system. (extra click). I do not want to add the words "copy of" to every file. I do not need this. I have a better system. This is ahorrible practice. Why don't you just add final_final_ to the each file while you're at it. This is junk. And now i have to ALSO click into that every time i save a file so i can then drag my mouse and delete your junk. PLEASE REMOVE JUNK.
