Overlay position accounts for scrolling in viewport
There is a bug when i preview an overlay effect. If a do scroll the overlay appears in the wrong place.
After discussing with the team this is working as designed. Overlay position is relative to the viewport. Meaning, wherever it is set to appear in the linked artboard is where it remains.
I’ve updated the title and moved to feature request forum for team to consider including in future release.
Thanks for sharing your feedback!

Toggle between relative and absolute position would be great!!!!

Has this been fixed yet? It's ridiculous to expect test users to be scrolled at exactly the top when they decide to click on an overlay.

Please fix this.

Add me to the +1 list, as this has been causing issues for me in my latest design project. Current "fix" for me is to just copy the old artboard and place the "hover" state on top, which defeats the purpose of the Overlay functionality.
Seems only useful for mobile at this point.

Agree - it would be great to have the option to have overlays that maintain a relative position to the previous artboard even when scrolled vertically. It’s difficult to use for objects that are relative to other on-screen objects and not only the viewport.

Any chance this feature could be prioritized, we use overlays a lot for dropdowns and it doesn't look great in demos when we need to scroll and the overlays goes walkabout.

While it's great when overlays are relative (eg. for modals), it's not suited for dropdowns for example. Please consider adding a chechbox in the overlay screen "keep position fixed".
Thanks!

what Adam said! plz add the possibility to make the overlay stick to the object clicked in the first layer

yes there should be an option to make overlay position relative to an object on the artboard, not a fixed position upon scrolling.

when scrolling an artboard that has content below the fold, overlay elements don't scroll with the artboard.

Would like the ability to make overlay elements such as menus relative to viewport OR the element that triggers the overlay.

I see... just as a feedback i have to say that it looks as a bug, because it does not allow to work properly on any project when you have a scroll system (most of proyects have it)... So i think it is a really high priority request.
Have a good day.

The problem happens when you do scroll. Do scroll and then press the button with the dropdown, then you will see that the dropdown appears in another place, just as the picture called "Wrong".
Please let me know if you need more information.
Thanks.
