Export original image inside a mask, not just the masked region.
When exporting a selected image inside a mask for export, the expectation is that the original photo will be exported if thats all I've selected. Instead it's just exporting the masked region.
This is particularly frustrating you need to pass along original assets to a development team that will do their own masking on a live website or app.
Hello Joshua:
That makes a lot of sense! One way to work around this is to create a mask group. This will keep the image as a separate layer within the group that can then be enabled for batch export.
I’ve moved this report over to the Feature Request forum for team to review.
Cheers!

Adobe XD team, this is a huge problem that needs to be resolved urgently. The match for export is a useless feature without it.

Not easy to work with a team of developers without this feature! I have to send separate folder with assets for every project. Please make it happen in 2022!

End of 2021 and still not a feature...

It's somewhat difficult to build a site when you cannot access original assets eh? :) Also masked groups still don't solve the problem outlined in many comments - you don’t get the original asset and if it has any css styling like rounded corners it exports a low res version with rounding already on it so it cannot be used in web

I thought I am the only one struggling with this. This feature is need of the hour. Right now it is a poor developer experience!

I was thinking i was a moron to not know how to do what, but in fact we can't... It's a necessary feature to have ASAP !

well this seems to be a real problem for our designer/developer workflow as i have no way to unmask images to get them out of XD. unbelievable.

This is very disappointing. This "feature" really messes up the collaborative process that Adobe has created.

Why isn't there a way to download the original unmasked asset?

This has turned development into hell for our team. Example: We have an image masked over a box with rounded corners, when you export the image, the rounded corners are "baked in" the image, where ideally we'd want to apply the treatment via CSS - and the image is small, cropped.

I wonder who prioritises these things in adobe. I love adobe xd but it seems it has been done on purpose to force me to have two subscriptions, an adobe XD and photoshop or whatever. I am developer, i dont want to have £60 p/m of subscriptions because you guys dont get it right.
This feature clearly belongs in adobe XD. I dont want to have to edit an image in photoshop. and most designers wont do the adobe suggested response. Nearly 2 years later from this reply, and here i am.
Adobe I work with different companies regularly having to constantly request a new asset because of something as simple as this this is frankly ridiculous. -

For anyone still running into this issue, I was able to work around it by right clicking on the image and selecting 'Edit in Photoshop...' and then exporting the image from there, unmasked

+1. Also, why can't I upvote this? I'm guessing others have had the same problem since the vote count is 1.

XD will never ever be a proper tool for web development until this is FIXED!!

I'm astounded, as a developer, that I am sitting here and am unable to extract the full background image from a design. Please tell me this has been fixed.
