Locked objects should be completely disabled
At the moment a locked object can still be selected, hindering the ability to select an object underneath.
It would be great if locked object would be completely disabled, similar to how an illustrator locked object behaves.
I actually think that's a bad solution, you need to think about something else. a lot of the time you use the locked object to lock/unlock them quickly.
Making them completely locked will cause everybody that is using the ability to select locked object for quick lock/unlock functionality worse
the problem does exist, but this will just make something else worse. my vote is for the team to dedicate time and resources to solve this issue, that will not be either this or this. It needs a third solution.
This is unbelievable that such a basic feature is missing. Why would anyone rational purposefully lock a layer if they still want to fiddle with it?
Boggles the mind how Adobe priorities the required "features" in it's offerings.

the context aware layers panel does a great job of allowing me to see what's important (including locked layers on the artboard I'm working on) Not being able to drag to select just what I want, is killing me. I work on projects that need backgrounds with overlays, and it's very frustrating to have to try and deselect those locked backgrounds. Why would I even lock it if it's going to be selected... can't understand this
We absolutely need this, it is now impossible to select items underneath. Just hiding it is not an option, because we still need to be able to see the object, since it's sometimes semi transparent. Basically it should just work the same as Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.
Please give us the option to lock layers the same way we do in Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign etc... it's absolutely ridiculous and impossible trying to select an underlying layer by locking the top object, just to find that it will still 'select'. Absolute no-brainer. Why is ADOBE so inconsistent across its own programs and workflows?

Yes! If layers are locked we should be able to selected unlocked layers beneath the locked layers.
I also agree with Robin King's point in a post before mine - it is very convenient to be able to select locked layers to quickly unlock or get info about them. It would be great to add a option or control or alt to the click to select locked layers and/or a right click menu allowing selection of locked layers.

Sounds like I’m in the minority here, but I actually sometimes find it useful to be able to select locked layers (to quickly unlock them for example). So this feature would be great if it is an option - so I can choose either way to work.
This is extreeemely annoying on a daily basis. If I lock it, it should be completely locked, not selectable. If it's on top of something I can't click anything underneath.

Wow this hurts so bad. I am also perplexed this is not in the base design. Please add. Or at least an option for hidden items to still be viewed in Play Mode?

Locked layer should be completely ignored just as in Illustrator or Photoshop.
Or maybe make the feature more hidden (requires the use of keys) if it is indeed necessary in certain cases.

SERIOUSLY - WTH,
This shouldn't even be a request, it's basic expected behavior. how can any team trying to promote a tool used for ux development not get the basics right. Even the new "click into a layer" concept is straight up user friction and a major user stumbling block to any power work flow.
The XD development team needs to re-think rethinking. Lock is lock and let me see everything in my layers panel if I choose too.

The reason we lock a layer is because we can peacefully work on other objects underneath and above it. Using layers to select them, even after we lock the object above is not the right way.
For example, to move an object using your mouse, you will click on it and drag (i shouldn't have to tell you guys this). But, with a locked layer above that object i cant do that, only way is keyboard arrows or the x and y values. How is this user friendly.
Plus, using layers to unlock objects are better way as we have chosen to lock that object, so that we can work on others.

Worse is when you got lots of locked objects in the background and you're trying to select an unlocked object, all the gray bounding boxes of the locked objects that got selected in the process create a visual mess making it difficult to focus on what we're actually working on.

What is also infuriating is when I have a large locked background image being selected over an item that is unlocked and above the locked image in the artboard.

Two years in the backlog? This is unacceptable.
One of two scenarios is possible:
- Either it's incredibly difficult to change (which is a failure of design)
- Or they just don't care about the little things (which is a failure of management)
Who has to get fired to get these important details fixed?
