Scrollable Area (not scrolling whole artboard)

Define a scrollable area within an artboard

This provides real-world app use cases, such as a table, slideshow, or iOS dropdown lists.

Hi everyone,

I’m excited to announce that with XD 30 we’ve added support for Scroll Groups. Try it out and please let us know your feedback.

With our May release you can scroll long artboards: http://blogs.adobe.com/creativecloud/may-update-of-adobe-experience-design-cc/ This is the first step towards real scrolling, you can expect more in the coming months. Please download it, give it a try and let us know what you think. Thanks!

Axure has been able to create scrollable areas on the art-board for 10 years. It's a must especially with web applications. There's no way I could move over to XP without this.

This has been in the works for 3 long years now! What is the status of this?

Add this feature please - XD prototypes need to be more dynamic to be useful in user testing!

This feature is needed to prototype scrollable content within modal windows.

Hey Daniel, scrolling should work like browser, on the artboard, AND modules.
You want to make a landing page or mobile app -> you will probably only need artboard scroller.
However, you want to make a CRM like Hubspot or Sugar or even a desktop software -> you need to scroll per module/container, look at slack or Asana, they have 3-page layouts and this will never be gone. The more XD becomes closer to the browser's behavior the better. I currently have multiple use cases which I built front-end that I can show you. Our base file for design is 1440 pt x 900 pt (responsive web application - enterprise). One case is one data table that needed a hacked XD to fake horizontal scroller with animation with 2 pages and another one is a 4 pane layout with 3 vertical scrollers

I really want this to happen in a simpler way, but currently there is a workaround I'm using that's working for me. You can basically make a scrolling artboard, and freeze everything except the thing you want to scroll. Then I put objects to hide the scroll where I don't want it, and freeze those too. It's a pain to do, but works in a pinch if you want to do a prototype with scrolling area. Sadly, only one scrolling area per artboard with this method.

So, yes, still waiting for this feature to be shipped.

    Hello guys,

Sorry, I don't want to be rude but, I can't understand how, how, HOW can you implement something like gamepad prototype, voice prototype and leave horizontal scroll out? Is that complicated to make it happen? This single feature made me migrate to Figma and I still want to go back to XD, but every time I see one update and get disappointed because you insist in leave this BASIC feature out of XD. I don't want to create 5, 6 screens and use auto animate just to prototype a simple horizontal scroll. seriously, it is unbelievable.

I would love to be able to interact with my repeat grids via the drag trigger. On many occasions, these repeatable elements need to showcase an overflow for example when you have a large list.

Currently, you need to duplicate the repeat grid to another board then animate between them with a y-axis offset.

Thoughts on how I'd like this to be implemented:

    How to enable:

    1. Select a Repeat Grid
    2. Tick a new checkbox in context menu "Scrollable Repeat Grid"
    3. Specify which axis to scroll (x/y/both) and the maximum iterations to repeat

    What should happen:

The repeat grid container should act as the overflow and scroll the iterations based on the specified axis via the drag trigger.
