  1. Stacks do not depend on layer order (or layer order can be reversed)

Currently, a stack is dependent on the stacking order of the layers.

Usually, that doesn't cause any trouble. But I have grid layout (aka table) where a context menu needs to fly up instead of down. To prevent the menu from ending up under the rows above, I have to break the stack so I can reverse the layer order (ie the row at the lowest y value needs to be at the highest z value).

Ideally, a stack would not depend on layer order.
Alternatively, you could just allow for reversing the logic somewhere, like a sort flip control.

  2. Component should have its own coordinate system

position elements relative to the component coordinate system NOT THE RANDOM ARTBOARD IT IS ON!!!!

When you make a component it should have its own coordinate system where the upper left corner is 0, 0. It is insane that you reference the artboard for position and not the parent container (component). I know you thought was a good idea when you made it this way. I am sure you had to go to your boss to force the software developers to get this feature. I am sure that they had to write a work around to even get it to…

  3. Responsive font size for different screens

Designing for web means mocking up, at minimum, for desktop and mobile. I have to create separate heading styles for both device sizes. Would be so so nice if I could define font sizes based on device widths for each heading style and swap them all at once, rather than tediously going through the mockups and updating each text box one-by-one.

  4. Expand artboard from the middle

insert pixels horisontally in any place of artboard , for example sometimes when i add some length to my blocks i have to move all blocks below, i can only make artboard longer from the bottom but i want it to be possible from any point i choose

  5. Ability to unlink component from source document without breaking component states

Currently a component is fully chained to the original document it was built in. No way of copying the component will unchain it from that source document unless the component is unlinked and rebuilt from the ground up. Given that early mock ups or sometimes separate documents are where an idea may be built then brought in later, this creates a chaotic hop around from source to source to source. As far as I know, there's no way to reliably drop all source elements into a single document after the thing has been built.

  6. Dual Screen support

It would be great if some features to support dual-screen laptops, like zenbook duo, could be added. Similar to the control panel support available for adobe photoshop.

Meanwhile, it would have been nice if the panels were dockable at least. Since the panels could not be docked aside, we are not able to take the panels to a separate screen.

Thanks for your feedback! Your second suggestion already exists, so I’m going to keep this one open for dual screen support. You should upvote the other one to get updates on that.

  7. Transform using %

Transform %: select your object(s) > inside transform type in the percentage width/height you want and append % + enter. I use this in Pshop/Illust/prem etc all the time.

Thanks for your feedback! I’ll leave this suggestion open, but you can already use mathematical expressions in width and height – you’ll just need to include the original value (156 * 0.5) for 50%, for instance.

  8. Clip content instead of masking

It would be good if an option could be put in all forms or at least when several elements are grouped that would make the content that we put inside it clip the content so that it would not be seen from the outside, just as artboards do. It seems to me something primary that should be because having to create a mask with the work that it gives just for that is a lot.

  9. Comments for coediting files

We need to have a way to leave comments on specific objects or artboards in files with coediting enabled. Should be able to tag other people, assign the comment, and resolve when completed. Bonus points if you can integrate with, like, asana or trello or whatever.

  10. move "deactivate font" at the bottom of the context menu

    Hi,
Please move "Desactivate font" in the context menu of a font style to the bottom of the list.
I think the most used item is "modify" and it should be more practical if it was in first position

  11. Image component instances are a reference to reduce file size

When it's necessary to place the same image many times throughout a document, it should be possible to create a master component that stores the heavy data so that the instances can reference it. The instances would only use a small amount of disk space.

I was surprised to find that XD does not utilize such optimization.

When designing a small portion of a larger environment (eg a plug-in for other software) I'll often just use a screen shot for context. This means one or a small set of screen shots will be used many times throughout my document. Instances…

  12. Allow "Replace font" tool to replace fonts with same name

There is currently an issue with XD that if you install the Creative Cloud version of a Font, that was previously installed on your Windows machine, then XD will consider that you're using the old version of the font and warn you that all fonts are missing.

Actually from a technical perspective I understand "Why", however what is infuriating is that the "Replace font" tool itself doesn't understand that we installed a new version and that when we select the new font to replace with in the dropdown, it should replace with the new version of that font.

    Because the…

  13. Share button on artboard in design mode is too easy to hit

The Share button that appears at the top of the selected artboard is super annoying. I have clicked on it 100 times accidentally when I want to rename or move an artboard :( And it directly generates a new link! Horror. If you wan to keep this function - please move it somewhere else. Prototyping mode or actually the Share mode fit this button better.

  14. Update text real-time in layers when changed on the artboard

When a text layer is created, the layer name is the same as that of the text. However, when the text is updated or made a copy of, the new layer's label in the layers panel remains the same. It needs to be updated in real-time as per the text on the artboard.

Right now, it is very confusing to look at the same text-labeled layers in the layers panel.

  15. Drop shadow spread

My request is two fold but both relate to shadows.

    In brief

Include shadow properties that related fully to CSS
Include the ability to save named shadow profiles for reuse

    Details

Include a crucial forth property to drop shadows that is actually part of the CSS spec and will enable designers to more accurately communicate their specifications to developer – include SHADOW SPREAD.

    Example declaration in CSS;

    box-shadow: [x-offset] [y-offset] [blur] [spread]

Additionally, please include the ability to save drop shadow profiles so they can be updated easily and will be applied to all relevant designs. It is time consuming…

Thanks for your feedback! UserVoice works best when you only have a single request per ticket, so I’m going to repurpose this specific ticket for the drop shadow spread. Please do feel free to file your second idea as a new ticket. Thanks!

  16. Device Specific Layouts

I think it would make a lot of sense to have an option to toggle between device layouts/designs (Desktop, Tablet, Mobile).

Each one would have it's own Design/Prototype and Share Modes with each one having it's own Assets Panel, which could be synced between all of them, if the user wanted.

With this, we could personalize and greatly organize all the assets, styles, etc. into all the devices we wanted to design.

If the user didn't want to design for web/devices, it would have an option to define which type of design he/she wanted.

  17. Filter character styles in assets panel by size or type

In documents assets have the ability to filter order typographies by size or type.

  18. Make Library Elements NOT Duplicate When Used in Other Libraries

Finally having libraries is nice, but the organization is still difficult to maintain for larger organizations. I have my libraries split out based categories. It seems easier to keep the XD files smaller. I have components, typography, colors, and icons. I plan on breaking out components to be more specific.

The problem is if I apply a color to a component, or if I apply a color to a text style, then I have multiples of styles / components in the document where I'm using all of these libraries.

This requires multiple files to be updated anytime a change is…

  19. Merge different components, overriding one of the selected

Sometimes I start ending up having 2 different components that are doing the same thing, I would like to be able to merge both into one single component, making easier to keep track of all the main components.

  20. selected object's name and type in property inspector

Could show a breadcrumb, or at least a name and a type of the currently selected object at the top of property inspector? You could always rely on the layer panel to find it out, but there are times when you really want to keep other panels open.
