Hi all, I contacted my rep at Adobe and confirmed they are exploring this functionality and are hoping to make it available in late 2020/early 2021. At least its on their radar :)

With an open source project this makes sharing design system assets with XD impossible

As a member of a UX team responsible for keeping a design system up to date, we're limited by the inability not to push updates to a shared design system without asking my colleague (who originally shared the document) to do the update.

So as a first step, I'd like to see the ability to add more administrators to a shared document.

As a next step, thinking out loud, I'd love to set different levels or permissions, chains of roles, like editors and admins, where for example if an editor makes a change, an admin has to review it.

I agree, we have the same issue in our org. I have a workaround (which is annoying) but i create versions of the file, and keep a separate design file, for me only.

Eg: filename_v01_design and filename_v01_dev

I work in a large enterprise, and allowing everyone edit access to the central design system is potentially destructive.

This is much needed! Sharing design system files is dangerous if everyone as too much access to edit. There is too much potential for messes and destructive edits

When sending an "Invite to Edit" instead of ALWAYS allowing people to edit the Master Design System file, give the option to just share the assets. Would be nice to share Design System Components/Assets with others without giving them access to edit it.

This would be a great way to share your Design System with others outside of your team, but keeping the editing of the file within your team.

Design Systems profiles would allow you to set a role for users like Admin, Editor or Viewer. This helps to secure that only administrators are allowed to accept any updates in Design Systems coming from editors. A discard changes button could be useful when editors submit an update request.

With new XD cloud documents, our team needs the ability to have multiple designers publish a shared document. Requesting an owner of the shared document to publish every time a team member makes a change is a hassle to the owner.

Just a bit more granularity in sharing permissions would be great. Allow document owners to give the ability to view, modify, share (or any/all of these). to one or more collaborators.

I need a way to actually manage the users and licenses. There is currently no way to do this as of today and it is a HUGE risk.

As an account administrator and account manager:

I need to backup files from my users, I am unable to do so.

I need to be notified of ALL publications from my team, I am unable to do so.

I need to be able to disable a persons ability to publish, I am unable to do so.

These are basic basic requirements from an Administrator/Manager. Why has none of this been addressed?

For the library, is it possible to have user controls for the user who can be the following:

Admin - like a super user, can ad new, modify, and remove artwork from the library. also can manage the users who have controls to the artwork / project.

Manager - who is managing and preview the assets but don't have the power to modify the artwork.

User 1 - designer who can upload, add new, modify, and remove the artwork asset to the library

User 2 - designer who can re-use the artwork from the library but doesn't have the access or power to modify the artwork
