This is an absolute must have! Otherwise, the preview mode will have limited use case for demoing the product.

Need to have hover effect (color a least) in XD please! Also, the ability to show a modal box/ drop down menu without having to make a whole artboard duplicate

Yes! Really need hovers!

Hover states are absolutely essential for prototyping. I'm currently using Invision for prototyping and it handles it pretty well, but of course, Invision isn't really a full design AND prototyping tool all in one like XD.

What would be amazing would be the ability to add hover states right in the appearance menu!

I agree, this application as great as it is, it is still very mobile-centric. Drop down menu and other desktop features would give this amazing application more robustness.

Simple, hovers are all that I need. Swap color alone would go a long way.
